Girolamo Diruta (c.1546- ca. 1624) was an Italian organist, theorist, composer, and a famous teacher during the 16th century. His treatise, Il Transilvano, was in two parts. Published in 1593 and 1609 respectively, Il Transilvano was a dialogue between Diruta and a diplomat. The dialogue includes discussions about organ techniques and keyboard counterpoint.
